Quiet Luxury BY JOANA MARCELINO

Inspirational environment proposals

Joana Marcelino designs the check-in and lounge spaces of Homeing in its 10th edition, where she also curates under the Quiet Luxury concept. The project, developed in full harmony with the Carlos Lopes Pavilion, evokes the serene elegance of a hotel courtyard – a place of pause, contemplation, and welcome.

INSTALLATION

“The Expression of Matter” by Sofia Águas, FBAUL

In the exhibition Expression of Matter, the vases from the Raw Resonance collection transform into objects of sculptural presence and design precision. Each piece is entirely hand-shaped, without the use of molds, allowing form, proportion, and materiality to reveal themselves uniquely. The series explores the dialogue between light, space, and matter, balancing formal rigor and tactile expressiveness. The design of these vases values the purity of lines, the clarity of forms, and the intimate relationship between object and user, reflecting a contemporary approach to ceramics as objects of contemplation and use.

  • Curator and Design: Sofia Águas (Researcher and Lecturer at FBAUL)
  • Exhibition Support: João Costa and João Rocha (ProjectLabb at FBAUL)
  • Coordination: Isabel Dâmaso (Director of the Equipment Design Department at FBAUL)
