The way society perceives and reacts to natural, technological, hybrid, or social risks directly influences the safety of us all. Risk literacy is not just knowledge; it’s the ability to understand risks, act preventively, and make informed decisions in emergencies. In this roundtable, we bring together Civil Defense experts to reflect on the challenges, gaps, and opportunities in preparing the population. We will explore how prevention, crisis response, effective communication, and capacity building in coordinating the response of national Defense and Civil Protection complement each other to build more resilient communities. Dialogue between citizens, institutions, and experts is essential to transform information into action. We invite everyone to participate actively, directing questions, experiences, and ideas. Your intervention is fundamental to enriching the discussion and building a more aware and prepared society to face risks. Come share, listen, and learn; your participation makes a difference!

This course is part of the training for civil protection teams, veterinarians, veterinary nurses, security forces, and even civilians, who must possess skills appropriate and proportionate to potential emergency situations and associated risks.
It is therefore urgent to train emergency team operators in general concepts regarding the handling and restraint of injured animals, identifying situations that endanger the lives of animals, stabilizing them in emergencies, and safely transporting them to the veterinary hospital, in order to establish methodologies and define concepts related to this fundamental behavioral modality.
